Truly, the Feast that was held in Punta Villa Resort in Iloilo City, Philippines, where God put His name for the Visayas brethren, was the best in so many years.
The highest attendance during the Feast was 130. Brethren coming from different islands and some foreign visitors attended the eight days of joyous celebration. Included in this number are 10 people from the USA. The Feast started on the evening of September 29 for the opening service. This was followed by daily morning services and a wholesome variety of activities every afternoon.
The members greatly appreciated the move of the Home Office in sending Mr. and Mrs. Earl Roemer as this years’ guest minister. Mr. Roemer’s sermons deeply inspired and encouraged the listeners.
The Feast video “I Shall Return,” which focused on the Philippine history and its parallel to the return of Jesus Christ as the only hope, was very much welcomed by the members.
Two individuals who committed themselves to follow God asked for baptism and were baptized during the second day of the Feast. They were Sabeniano Boldios of Inopacan, Leyte, and Norberto Atchuela of Isabel, Leyte.
Young and old alike enjoyed the family day held in Sol Y Mar Beach Resort. Parlor games and a variety of activities highlighted the day. The family entertainment and dance night showcased the talents of the different congregations that added to the excitement of all. In the middle of the Feast, we were blessed with a roasted calf shared to us by a newly-wed couple that further gave us a more festive atmosphere. Free swimming was once again provided to us by the management of the Punta Villa Resort.
Observing how the members conducted themselves, a number of personnel and resort employees inquired as to whether we had a place of services for the Church nearby. One was heard making a comment that we were the only group who stayed in the resort who were responsible, orderly, humble, and radiating with joy.
What made this Feast a great success was the love and concern everyone had for one another. All of them expressed their gratitude and heartfelt thanks to God for their calling and the opportunity to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.
