UCG-Manila: Bracing the Brethren for 2006!
by Audrey Ruth Angcos, Manila Congregation

Youth Bible Lessons

Similar to other UCG congregations in the country, Manilans have also been blessed with a good number of children. There are 32 youths enrolled in the Youth Bible Lessons Program with ages ranging from 4 to 24. Their number roughly represents the younger half of the entire Manila congregation!
In order to cater to the spiritual nourishment of our young members, we launched our Youth Bible Lesson evaluations last January 7, 2006 as a year-starter activity for our young members.

Twelve dedicated evaluators and 32 enthusiastic students from Level 1 to Level 9 started their evaluation at 1 p.m. on the first Sabbath of the year. The resulting enthusiasm in response to the program was very remarkable! We all believe that the sustained success of this program rests heavily on our consistent dedication towards making a positive impact in the lives of our children by helping them learn biblical facts and principles.
All the evaluators and parents alike really strive that the lessons learned will stay not only throughout the remaining portion of this YBL season but deep into the formative years of our young children.

UCG Manila Mini-Rondalla

UCG Manila congregation is happy to announce the launching of its mini-rondalla last January 7, 2006! With 25 participants, mostly grade school children, this small ensemble will have a series of workshops every Saturday night to be conducted by Mr. Wilson Cinco.
The mini-rondalla, with the octavina for the boys and the banduria for the girls, aims to perform some special music during Sabbaths and at the Feast of Tabernacles.

Youth and Singles Activity

“Keeping the Vision… Building Upon the Foundation” (Matthew 6:33; Psalm 111:10)—This is our theme for our Youth and Singles activity for the year 2006.

We started our whole day planning session last December 18 with Abraham Lorenzo coordinating and in the presence of our pastor, Mr. Rey Evasco. We had a very fruitful brainstorming session for some of the activities that we will be having for the entire year. Some of these are: Bible studies, dance refresher course, speaking club, personality tests, church dance, attending seminars, and many more.

With the help of our Almighty God, we are positive that we can help our youth and singles in the Church to grow in God’s ways with one another, develop God-given skills and talents, and eventually to attain our full potential to become responsible members in the Kingdom of God!

Literature Distribution Display Desk

For almost six months now, our Literature Distribution Display Desk has been very effective in providing our brethren with additional literature supply. We are very thankful to our Church Office here in the Philippines for equipping us with an ample supply of literature to better serve our brethren and church visitors here in Manila.

We started our Literature Distribution Display Desk last July 2005. We are striving to serve the brethren on a “Next-Sabbath Delivery” service which keeps them always fired up. We thought the idea will keep the brethren enthusiastic, and at the same time save the Church some mailing costs. After six months of operation, we are still receiving consistently increasing requests from our brethren and some interested readers who have attended services.
