| Jed Pilapil-Sy, our sister in prison, has recently sent us this message:
“Thanks a lot for your prayers. I am really overwhelmed how God works mysteriously in my life and even in the people I am with. I hope He will touch more lives so that we can have eternal life. I was really moved by the DVD messages and also by The Good News you gave me. Kindly bring extra copies of The Good News and United News because some are also interested to read. In fact, one inmate wanted to have counseling with me; she wants to discover the truth based on the Bible. I am glad that slowly God is working changes in her. She is actually the inmate who was just given her sentence. She wants to join me together with two persons who used to listen with me during the Sabbath. That is why I need to have new copies. I also tried to let them view the old ones, which are very important in their quest for truth. I am happy because every day is a challenge and I feel blessed by what God is doing with us here.”
I recently visited Jed at the Ma-a City Jail in Davao as I also delivered her sermon DVDs and literature. Her attitude is rather inspiring. She has started to value eternal life in God’s Kingdom more than this physical life. One time, she said she felt scared of asking her boss for time off from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset (she is asked to do various tasks in the prison), since she was afraid that she would be punished. After much prayer, she eventually summoned the courage to ask for the Sabbath off, which to her surprise they did grant! She said she has learned to fear God more now than to fear man.
About the outcome of their case, she has full assurance that God knows the truth and that He knows what is best for her. In the meantime, she said she is in the process of writing an account of her experiences which she hopes to share when it is complete. She especially wants to be with her four-year old daughter whom she hasn’t seen for more than two years. Let’s continue to pray for Jed, her brother Jing-Jhong, as well as her mom and family. |
